Every single piece is handmade stoneware. The ball with a lid was cast in 10 separate moulds. The seams from the moulds are hand-ground with precision. The next step is to fire it once before it is glazed and fired again at 1,250 C º.
The black-and-white pieces have been coated with slip. In combination with the relief pattern, this matte finish creates exciting depth and variety. The use of turquoise was inspired by the first glazes used by mankind. The shiny feldspar glaze lends the pieces a shimmering prism-like character.
“Dusty Diamonds meant facing lots of challenges. The deep relief on the pieces has never been done before, you see. The results fill me with a true sense of accomplishment.” – Kent Eriksson
